Twitch has added an account setting that lets streamers opt out of having Amazon use their content to train generative AI models.
The setting covers streams, archived on-demand videos, clips, stream chats, and other text and images on a channel, according to a Twitch support page.
Twitch said content from streamers who disable the “Training for Generative AI” toggle will not be used for future training of generative AI models. The company said those models are intended “to generate or synthesize text, audio, images or video.”

The setting had previously been enabled by default, allowing content to be used unless streamers turned it off.
Twitch said streamers’ content may still be used for other artificial intelligence or machine learning functions, including automated captions. The company also said some AI functions cannot be disabled on an individual basis because they are used for platform-wide safety and security.
Twitch said its AutoMod moderation tool does not retain users’ data or use that data to generate material for generative AI purposes.
Streamers can change the setting in their Twitch account controls by disabling the “Training for Generative AI” option. Twitch also said chat messages posted in another streamer’s channel are governed by that channel owner’s setting on generative AI training.
