TikTok to cut 250 jobs and close Nashville office

TikTok is laying off 250 employees and will close its Nashville office on Oct. 5, a site that housed part of its content moderation team.

The New York Times first reported the cuts and the office closure, and Zanna Crowley, a spokesperson for the TikTok USDS Joint Venture, confirmed the move.

Crowley said the shutdown was intended to “streamline our operations and better align our teams for long-term growth.”

“We remain fully committed to providing secure, safe and positive experiences for the 200 million Americans that create, discover and connect with what they love on TikTok,” Crowley said.

The Nashville office was leased in 2024. The job cuts come as social media companies use artificial intelligence more heavily to monitor and remove violent or explicit content on their platforms.
