Snap said it will hold an event on September 16 to give what it described as the first in-depth look at its $2,195 augmented reality glasses, Specs.
The event is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET in Los Angeles and will be available by livestream, according to the company.
Snap said Chief Executive Evan Spiegel will demonstrate how Specs bring “AI assistance, work tools, entertainment and shared experiences into the world around us.” The company said the presentation will focus on how the glasses can help people “create, connect, learn and get things done while staying present.”
Snap opened pre-orders for Specs last month. The company said the glasses are expected to ship in the United States, Britain and France this fall.
Specs will be sold in two sizes, 47mm and 52mm, Snap said. The company said the battery lasts up to four hours of “mixed use.”
The glasses include a built-in browser and AI assistance through partnerships with OpenAI and Google, according to Snap. The company also said hundreds of AR Lenses, including games, will be available for the device.
Snap said the glasses use two Qualcomm Snapdragon processors housed in the arms. The company said one processor handles computer vision and the other runs AR applications.
