Google has launched the Pixel Tag, an item tracker for Android devices, alongside its new Pixel 11 phones. The device starts at $29 for preorders, and Google said shipments will begin on August 20. A four-pack will cost $99.
The Pixel Tag has an elongated pill-shaped design and measures 1.8 inches tall, 1.1 inches wide and 0.2 inches thick. It is compatible with phones running Android 9 and later.
Google said the tag supports Bluetooth Channel Sounding for precise distance measurement between two devices. That feature requires Android 16 or later and Bluetooth 6.0.
The tracker also includes Ultra Wideband for Precision Finding, which can show the user’s distance from the tag and the direction needed to locate it. That feature requires an Android device with Ultra Wideband support, including Google’s Pixel Pro and Samsung’s Galaxy S and Z Fold phones.
The Pixel Tag carries an IP67 rating for dust and splash resistance. Google said it can withstand submersion in 3.28 feet of water for up to 30 minutes.
The device uses a replaceable CR2032 coin cell battery. Google said the battery lasts about a year.
