Bluesky has raised its video length limit to 10 minutes, up from three minutes last year and 60 seconds before that.
The platform also increased the maximum video file size to 300MB and said uploads should now run two to three times faster. The change also applies across the decentralized AT Protocol network, allowing other apps built on the system, including Bluescreen, Reelo and Skylight, to host longer videos.
The new limit matches TikTok’s 10-minute cap. Meta’s Threads allows videos up to five minutes long.
On X, free users can upload videos up to 140 seconds long, while paying users with a blue check mark can upload videos up to 16GB in size.
X has recently hosted full movie leaks, including “Avatar Aang,” “The Odyssey” and “Spider-Man: Brand New Day.”
Bluesky’s active user base was down 25% year over year as of July, according to Similarweb data published by TechCrunch.
