Apple has removed Telegram from its iOS App Store worldwide, taking the messaging app out of all 175 regional storefronts tracked by independent monitoring service Apple Censorship.
The removal on August 3 prevents iPhone users from downloading or reinstalling Telegram, although existing installations continue to work.
Neither Apple nor Telegram has publicly explained the delisting. App Store searches for Telegram return no results, and direct links to the product page now show 404 errors.
The removal affects iOS users globally. People who already have Telegram installed can keep using it, but they will no longer receive updates, bug fixes or security patches.
Users who delete Telegram or move to a new iPhone will not be able to reinstall it from Apple’s marketplace. Telegram’s desktop, web and Android versions remain available.
GRAM fell 5.77% to $1.33 after the news, according to CoinMarketCap data.
Apple has removed Telegram before over content policy issues. In February 2018, Apple pulled Telegram and Telegram X after illicit content was found in public channels, and restored the apps within 24 hours after moderation changes.
In June 2026, the Indian government ordered Google and Apple to temporarily delist Telegram to prevent exam paper leaks during NEET re-examinations. That restriction was lifted within days.
Telegram said in July 2026 that it would roll out a native non-custodial GRAM wallet to more than 1 billion users.
No public statement has linked the current App Store removal to content moderation, Telegram’s crypto features or a technical problem.
