Locating a dependable technician in Nigeria has historically been an exhausting ordeal. Whether a homeowner is dealing with a burst pipe, an unexpected power fault, or preparing for an upcoming relocation, getting fast and competent assistance usually involves asking around in family group chats, hunting for phone contacts, or taking chances on unverified internet listings. Even when a recommendation arrives, uncertainties linger over competence, punctuality, fair billing, and post-service accountability.

Simultaneously, countless gifted technicians and handymen face the opposite challenge: they possess the expertise to deliver top-tier results but lack the marketing reach to secure steady work beyond basic word-of-mouth.

To bridge this divide, Nigerian tech venture Taskie has introduced a specialized digital marketplace designed to make securing domestic and technical assistance as seamless as ordering products online. The platform pairs everyday consumers with screened handymen and specialists—branded as ‘Taskers’—while offering tools for messaging, billing, digital payments, and conflict mediation.

The end-to-end booking flow is engineered to eliminate friction:

1. Select a Service: Users explore diverse options ranging from plumbing, electrical diagnostics, and carpentry to solar maintenance, generator servicing, moving assistance, and personal grooming.
2. Compare Taskers: Clients inspect profiles displaying background info, client feedback, and past project metrics.
3. Submit Task Details: Customers outline job specifications, upload reference images, and propose their desired timeline and location.
4. Confer and Confirm: Both parties align on expectations and pricing via integrated chat before the specialist issues a formal digital invoice.
5. Secure Payment & Execution: Paying through Taskie secures the reservation. Funds are tracked on-platform until the client confirms satisfactory completion.
6. Feedback: Customers submit reviews, building a transparent track record that highlights premier service providers.

Unlike informal directories, Taskie prioritizes security and reliability over raw speed. Handymen must undergo rigorous identity checks and skill screening prior to receiving assignments. All interactions, billing, and transactions remain recorded within the app. To sustain its vetting architecture, escrow safeguards, and dispute mitigation, Taskie applies a 7.5% Trust & Support Fee (capped at ₦10,000) to each transaction.

Officially introduced in October 2026, the marketplace has scaled swiftly. Its roster already features over 100 verified tradespeople, having recorded dozens of service requests and successfully finished more than 15 projects with near-perfect customer satisfaction ratings.

While currently operating in major hubs including Lagos, Abuja, Ibadan, Akure, Port Harcourt, Warri, Benin City, and Kano, Taskie aims for broader continental expansion. Founder and Chief Executive Officer Olu Olumolawa noted that the company’s objective is to remove the unnecessary anxiety associated with hiring local labor, turning raw craftsmanship into durable economic livelihoods across Africa.

By establishing accountability across every phase of home maintenance and skilled labor, Taskie hopes that when repairs or everyday chores arise, looking up an artisan on its platform becomes second nature.
