Apple launched a campaign promoting Safari over Chrome, adding a “Switch to Safari” webpage and two YouTube videos focused on its browser’s features.
Apple describes Safari as “a more powerful and private browser than Chrome.” Its new webpage claims advantages in battery life, privacy protections and performance.
The company says Safari provides up to five more hours of video streaming on a Mac than Chrome and loads frequently visited websites on Mac up to 35% faster.
Apple also says Chrome allows more third-party trackers to follow users across the web and collect and sell their data to advertisers. The company says Chrome does not remember which distractions users want to keep hidden.
Earlier this year, Apple launched a “Privacy on iPhone” campaign promoting Safari as a more private alternative to Chrome.
The new “Switch to Safari” webpage includes a side-by-side comparison of the browsers and details on Safari features including Reader Mode, Notify Me, Profiles and Apple Pay.
The two new YouTube videos demonstrate Safari’s Distraction Control and Intelligent Tracking Prevention features.
