Anthropic, the artificial intelligence research firm behind the Claude chatbot, has formally submitted paperwork for an initial public offering in the United States, positioning itself for a potential Wall Street debut before the end of the year.
The San Francisco enterprise registered its preliminary prospectus with the Securities and Exchange Commission on Monday, October 26, building upon confidential documentation lodged earlier in June. The prospective float could become one of the most lucrative market entries in corporate history. Trading under the proposed ticker symbol ANT, the company has not yet confirmed the volume of shares or a set price band; however, market reports suggest it is pursuing a valuation between $1.5 trillion and $1.75 trillion to secure upwards of $100 billion in fresh capital.
According to sources close to the transaction, trading could commence the week of November 16, prior to the US Thanksgiving break. The landmark deal is being guided by Wall Street heavyweights Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley, supported by a syndicate of 20 additional investment banks.
The regulatory filing provides an unprecedented look into Anthropic’s rapid expansion alongside massive financial outlays. The company generated roughly $16.3 billion in revenue throughout the opening six months of 2026—a steep climb from the $1.2 billion generated during the matching timeframe in 2025. Even so, it posted an extensive net loss of around $81 billion for the half-year. More than $72 billion of that deficit stemmed from non-cash accounting adjustments tied to convertible securities. Meanwhile, expenditure on server clusters and cloud infrastructure surged to nearly $9 billion, nearly quadrupling from $2.3 billion a year prior. Recent guidance showed third-quarter revenues accelerating to $16.8 billion, a sequential quarterly jump of almost 50 percent, highlighting the intense capital dynamics and compute overhead underpinning leading-edge AI development.
To safeguard its strategic mission, Anthropic is instituting a five-tier equity framework. Under this arrangement, the startup’s seven co-founders will command 50.1 percent of aggregate voting power via Class F shares, while an independent Long-Term Benefit Trust possessing Class T shares will hold the prerogative to designate the majority of the board of directors. Furthermore, the company intends to contribute at least five percent of post-IPO equity toward an Anthropic Public Benefit Fund, created to support non-profit programs and vulnerable communities while explicitly barring political activities.
Established in 2021 by former OpenAI researchers spearheaded by chief executive Dario Amodei, the firm has emerged as a frontline challenger to OpenAI and Google. While counting tech giants such as Amazon, Alphabet, and Nvidia among its principal backers, Anthropic’s prospectus explicitly cautions investors about the severe and existential hazards advanced artificial intelligence could present to human civilization alongside its transformative possibilities.
