Stability AI said it raised $76 million in Series B funding, bringing the startup’s total fundraising to $232 million.
The company announced the round on Tuesday and said investors included Universal Music Group, Sony Music Group, Warner Music Group, Electronic Arts, AMD Ventures and Pacific Alliance Ventures.
Chief Executive Prem Akkaraju, who joined the company in 2024, said the funding was “an affirmation of our vision where generative AI empowers every producer, musician, and storyteller.”
Stability said it will use the new capital to expand its “creative production” product suite and its professional services arm.
The company offers AI models for music, video and image generation, including the Stable Diffusion image model.
Stability, founded in 2019, has signed a series of deals with entertainment companies over the past year to integrate generative AI into creative workflows.
It partnered with Universal Music and Electronic Arts in October and with Warner Music in November, with those agreements giving the companies a role in co-developing Stability’s AI tools rather than only licensing output.
Stability also recently won much of a copyright case brought by Getty Images in the United Kingdom over claims that Getty’s images were used to train its image generation model without permission.
A judge ruled largely in Stability’s favor in that case, while a similar Getty lawsuit in the United States is still moving through the courts.
The company was also sued in 2023 by co-founder Cyrus Hodes, who alleged that co-founder Emad Mostaque tricked him into selling his stake in the company.
