Solana processed a record 169.9 million non-vote transactions on Aug. 4, the highest single-day total on the network, according to Blockworks data.
Non-vote transactions exclude validator messages used to reach consensus, making the figure a measure of user and application activity rather than network overhead.
Weekly transaction counts have also moved above the previous peak set in early February and are up about 55% from this year’s low in April.
Solana activated the SIMD-0286 network upgrade on July 29 at the start of a new epoch. The change raised the maximum compute limit per block to 100 million compute units from 60 million, a 66% increase.
The network kept block times at 400 milliseconds after the change, and the increase came after XDP kernel-bypass networking cleared 70% of staked SOL.
Data from the Solana Foundation showed 11.2% of blocks were reaching 56 million compute units or more under the old 60 million limit. That indicated the previous cap was already being tested by live traffic.
Blockworks Research estimated that market makers running proprietary automated market makers accounted for about 20% of all Solana transactions as of late 2025. The activity includes continuous quote updates, arbitrage and order-book maintenance.
Western Union’s Stablecard also went live on Solana on Aug. 4 through Rain, covering 37 markets and using the USDPT stablecoin. A Solana post on X said the card can be used anywhere Visa is accepted across 175 million merchant locations.
USDPT circulation remains near 7.4 million tokens, small enough that it is not yet driving transaction totals.
Despite the transaction record, Solana’s fee revenue weakened. Network fees totaled $51 million in the second quarter, the lowest quarterly figure since the third quarter of 2023, while decentralized exchange volumes fell to their lowest level since September 2024.
The transaction mix has shifted away from memecoin speculation toward market-maker requoting and stablecoin payments, which generate less revenue per transaction. Solana’s next planned throughput upgrades include Alpenglow and 200 millisecond slots.
