Google has begun rolling out its Pics image editing app to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers, expanding access after a limited spring test.
The app is also becoming available to customers on Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Standard and Enterprise Plus plans, while Google AI Pro for Education users are starting to get access today.
Google introduced Pics in May as an image tool that combines AI image generation with editing controls. The company had said at the time that Pics would reach AI Pro and Ultra subscribers during the summer.
Pics is built on Google’s Nano Banana image generator. Users can create images from text prompts or upload an existing image as a starting point.
“Pics will generate whatever you describe, and it will even provide a helpful set of alternatives based on your prompt,” Google said.
The app includes object segmentation tools that let users move, resize and transform individual parts of an image, whether those elements were generated by AI or not.
Pics can also modify and translate text embedded in images without changing the design or font. Google said the release supports 29 languages.
The app can upscale images to 2K and 4K resolutions and handle multiple edits at the same time.
Google has integrated Pics into Workspace applications including Docs and Slides. Clicking on an image inside those apps opens the full set of editing controls.
In the coming weeks, users will also be able to open and edit images saved in Google Drive. Workspace users can collaborate with colleagues on the same image.
“You shouldn’t have to jump between applications to create and share visuals,” Google said. “Now, you can harness powerful AI image generation and editing right where you are, no copying, pasting, or switching tabs required.”
