Epic Games has launched Epic Parties, a cross-platform voice chat feature that works across Fortnite, the Epic Games Store and the Epic Games app.
The feature lets players join voice chats across games and devices, and move an active chat between Epic’s app and Fortnite without ending the call.
Epic Parties supports cross-platform communication, allowing players on different hardware to speak in the same voice chat. Voice chats can continue in the background on mobile devices and while players use other titles from the Epic Games Store.
Players who accept an Epic Party invite will automatically join the same Fortnite lobby when they are in the game.
The rollout expands Epic’s chat tools after the company introduced text chat options across its services last year.
Players can start a party from their friends list, and they can turn an existing text conversation into a voice chat through a “Start Party” button in the chat window.
